To thoroughly implement the spirit of the university’s strategic development conference for the new era, the Party Committee of the Engineering Training Center held the opening ceremony of the "Study Ideology, Strengthen Work Style, and Make New Contributions" training program for young cadres on June 10. The program focuses on improving work style and strategic development capabilities. Members of the Party Committee and all department-level cadres attended the event, which was chaired by Party Committee Secretary Xu Jianhua.
Xu Jianhua delivered the opening speech and conveyed the key messages from the speech delivered by university Party Committee Secretary Li Jiang at the strategic development conference. He emphasized that the conference reflected the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee’s higher expectations for the university and represented the collective wisdom of the university leadership. He called on all Party members and cadres at the center to enhance their strategic perspective, broaden their horizons, and take on greater responsibilities, especially as the university stands at a critical juncture of major transformation and development.
Chen Hao, Deputy Party Committee Secretary and Director of the center, interpreted the keynote report delivered by President Lou Yongqi. He stressed the need for the center to remain vigilant in times of peace, to be mission-driven and innovation-led, and to actively integrate artificial intelligence into course design. He also emphasized incorporating design thinking and business models to advance engineering practice education reform and effectively enhance student engagement and meet their learning needs.
In line with the spirit of the Central Eight-Point Regulation and the strategic plans of the university and the center, Chen Hao led a Party lecture themed "People-Centered Development: Laying a Solid Foundation for Work Style." He urged cadres to deeply understand that the core of work style issues lies in the relationship between the Party and the people, to thoroughly study General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important remarks on this relationship, and to earnestly implement the relevant requirements.
The meeting also announced the establishment of the Innovation Development Task Force and Research Group of the Engineering Training Center (School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship), composed of members of the Party and administrative leadership team and heads of various departments.
This training program will serve as an opportunity to continuously deepen the work style of young cadres and enhance the strategic development capabilities of all staff. Through systematic learning and practical training, the center aims to build consensus, clarify goals, and inject strong momentum into the high-quality development of the university and the center.
